.....John Updike is a native of Danville, Virginia and has lived in Charlottesville since 1985. He graduated from Woodberry Forest School in 1977 and the University of Virginia in 1981. John's wife Sandy is a flight attendant for United Airlines and they are proud parents of their daughter Julia, born in July 1995. John has a love of diverse architectural styles and enjoys seeing unique homes and floor plans. His interest in real estate stems from this as well as his ability to communicate with and understand the needs of his clients without invoking any undue pressure.

"I never get tired of Charlottesville and always enjoy returning home whenever I go out of town."

.....Since 1985 John has seen Charlottesville grow and evolve into a highly desirable place to live for all ages, interests and lifestyles. With the University of Virginia as a strong foundation, John feels Charlottesville's strengths lie in an array of business opportunities, cultural arts, the diversity of its people, a community-wide desire for controlled, yet effective growth and an appreciation for the history that surrounds the area. He also admires the desire of University alumni, friends and supporters to return to Charlottesville for academic, social and athletic events that enable them to stay in touch with the area. Many have turned this into a move to Charlottesville to work, raise a family and realize their desire to live in an area large enough for community diversity yet small enough for a high quality of life.

.....In many ways John sees the Charlottesville area as selling itself, as evidenced by its stature in national polls as a desirable place to live. Other strengths John sees in the Charlottesville area include a fine school system, high quality medical care and a genuine and proactive desire of its people to see the area thrive. People from literally all over the world have chosen Charlottesville as their hometown of choice, based on its many strengths. Personally, John's deep interest in acoustic music, golf, gardening and pride in his home and family have found a good fit in Charlottesville.
